“For years we have heard the growing warnings about all our electronics and how they are affecting us as a society, our intellect, and now we are learning how electronics are affecting our health.
How? You may ask?
Electromagnetic Frequencies. More Commonly known as EMF's
EMF's are found in
- microwave ovens
- computers
- house energy meters
- wireless (Wi-Fi) routers
- cellphones
- Bluetooth devices
- power lines
- MRIs
The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified EMF's as a probable carcinogen. Scientists have found that individuals who hold their cell phones to their ear have a higher chance of brain tumors on that side of their brain. EMF's have been linked to leukemia in adults and children.
While studies have shown links between EMFs and disease, it is hard to pin point the threshold at which EMF's are acceptable (to allow us to enjoy our technology) and when they become a hazard to our health. As more and more items begin to emit EMF's it becomes clear that we must stay vigilant against this Silent monster.
How do you know if you are being affected buy EMFs? Try looking as some of these symptoms:
- sleep disturbances, including insomnia
- headache
- depression and depressive symptoms
- tiredness and fatigue
- dysesthesia (a painful, often itchy sensation)
- lack of concentration
- changes in memory
- dizziness
- irritability
- loss of appetite and weight loss
- restlessness and anxiety
- nausea
- skin burning and tingling
- changes in an electroencephalogram (which measures electrical activity in the brain)
As we have become more and more reliant on technology are we simply to accept our diseased fate? Absolutely NOT!! We can still enjoy our technology and still intentionally counteract its effects. It's like bathing. you KNOW you are going to get dirty so you clean yourself regularly. So how do we "clean" ourselves of EMF's?
Here are some ways that we have found help our family. First up is reduction....
- Put your home wifi on a timer and turn it off at night.
- Put your phone on airplane mode in the evening as you sleep or during work hours when you do not need to be reached
- Do not text or carry on conversations while in the car. The constant changing of cell towers requires the phone to send out more EMFs
-Use wired earphones to talk on your cell and limit carrying your phone on your body or in clothing
- Attach EMF reducing devices to you phone, laptops, router and wireless earbuds- All items can be found on amazon!
